Spend the Weekend in Belmont

Family Fun

Seeking a family-friendly North Carolina weekend? Visit quaint and cozy Belmont for a short vacation that your entire clan can make their own – a couple quiet, relaxing days or a trip filled to the brim with activities for all ages!

Here’s how you can spend your family weekend with us:

On Your Way In

Drop off the bags, or unwind and unpack, at the Hampton Inn by Hilton Charlotte/Belmont@Montcross. But don’t get too comfortable… Venture first to the 400-acre Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden. From tropical-plant displays to woodland trails and flowing fountains, this world-renowned destination offers wonder and awe to visitors of every generation year-round. And for the kids? The Lost Hollow Children’s Garden – a scenic addition to the Garden filled with opportunity for exploration and imaginative play.

Kick start the day with family breakfast at Famous Toastery of Belmont. The robust, fresh menu alongside exceptional service is sure to please everyone. Try breakfast specialties such as biscuits and gravy or Toastery’s famous hash, a blend of corned beef and shredded potatoes topped with two eggs and homemade Hollandaise sauce. The peanut butter and banana stuffed French toast is also highly recommended.

Ready to work off some of that a.m. breakfast? Travel down Catawba Street to Kevin Loftin Riverfront Park. With your entire family, enjoy a shaded playground, a riverfront observation dock for fishing and sightseeing, walking trails and ample picnic shelters. For a wilder ride, hop in the car with your adventurous gang and travel five miles north to the U.S. National Whitewater Center. Ready yourself for whitewater rafting, kayaking, zip lining, paddle boarding, ropes courses and additional worthwhile outdoor challenges. If shopping is more suited to the agenda, Belmont’s Main Street will welcome you to peruse antiques, jewelry, handbags and more. Don’t forget a gift from Happy Dog Café for the furry family member back home!

As lunch nears, Doffers Pizzeria is on the menu. Make every member of the family happy with hand tossed pizza, crisp chicken wings, homemade pasta salad and more. And definitely start the meal with some dough drops — delicious bite-size garlic butter and parmesan nuggets.

Depending on the weekend of your arrival, Belmont features live music and various festivals throughout the year. Whether it’s a Friday Night Live summer concert or the Belmont Boo Festival in October, the whole family can find enjoyment from an evening under the stars with sugary treats in hand. For supper, check out Estia’s Kouzina for a little Greek flare and flavor. Or venture back to Main Street for a taste of the south at Nellie’s Southern Kitchen with a down-home menu of biscuits and gravy as well as chicken and dumplings.

Before You Leave

Satisfy that sweet or savory tooth with a pit stop at Tastebuds Popcorn. With more than 150 flavors of popcorn, such as parmesan garlic and white chocolate birthday cake, this Belmont shop will have each family member choosing fantastically different favorites.
