Hundreds of thousands of people head to McAdenville, North Carolina each year to see their impressive display of Christmas lights.
The entire town gets involved with the tradition, decking out every home and covering every tree in lights. Over the years, McAdenville has earned the nickname “Christmas Town USA.”
Back in 1954, Dick Roberts and a group from the local mill decided to do something special for Christmas, taking some old rods and “use them to spell Merry Christmas,” Roberts remembered. “We started from there and it’s just expanded throughout the town.” …
